This feeling is caused by the balance organs that are next to your ears, what you see no longer matches what your balance organs register and the result is that you do not feel well.

My personal favorite tip: Fall asleep as soon as possible when you are on a boat, in the car or on an airplane. You will then experience less of the journey, so that the journey seems to go faster anyway, but you also suffer less from unpleasant feelings of motion sickness. The feeling of motion sickness is suppressed, as it were, because you do not experience the travel so consciously.

Car Sickness Pills

There are several motion sickness pills that help against motion sickness. Often these are antihistamines, which are normally used for allergies. Examples of antihistamines include cinnarizine, cyclizine, and meclozine. If you take motion sickness pills, it can prevent you from getting sleepy and blurry.

Fresh Air Sometimes Works Wonders

Open a window or stop if you can for a breath of fresh air when you are on the road by car. Somehow, fresh air sometimes really works wonders when you’re suffering from motion sickness. Is it hot in the car? Then turn on the air conditioning. If it is too hot, it can also have a negative influence. If you are on a boat, it may help to step outside on the deck for a while.

Looking to the Horizon

If you’re on a boat, it can help to focus on the horizon. When you keep the horizon in view, you sometimes feel a little less nauseous. In the car, for example, you can focus on the road and watch the driver. Motion sickness is often worse if you don’t keep the horizon in view.
